Dynamometer engine tuning services
Dyno tuning is a way of measuring and setting the parameters of an engine for optimum performance across all of the conditions the engine will encounter in use. A factory engine has variations from part to part in every sensitive area of operation; fuel pressure, injectors, cylinder head castings, and ignition timing. The fuel and ignition settings (whether fuel injected or carburettor) are set at the factory at what are considered to be “average” settings. The chance that all of these settings are optimal for your particular machine is incredibly small. This means there is tremendous potential that can be unlocked in almost every stock engine. We can tune out stumbling, flat spots in the rev range, popping on deceleration, and similar kinds of running issues, as well as obtain more power from less fuel consumption. There is an efficient, vigorous engine in every motorcycle, tuning can get rid of all the things that stand in the way of your bike's full potential. Until you have ridden the before-and-after of a tuned machine, it is hard to describe the improvement you will feel in your riding experience.
We have the best dyno tuning services for motorcycles in the Twin Cities. The few other dealers who use dynos contract the work out, often off-site. Our Dyna Pro dyno is installed on-site in an Industrial Noise Control enclosure, allowing us to use the dyno as needed—whether for tuning or diagnostics. Customers ship bikes to us from all over the United States for tuning and service. We do offer same day tuning (by appointment only) for out of town customers. We have over 15 years of experience tuning carburetors and fuel injection systems on Ducati, Harley, Triumph, Aprilia, KTM, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and more.
We enjoy the challenges of special projects and tricky problems. If you goal is to improve rideability, performance, fuel economy, or all three, we can make your bike run better than it ever has before.
Ducati Minneapolis was born out of the service excellence of Silverback Performance: tuning and service are both very familiar to us. Over the years we have built and tuned racing engines for Ducatis, Suzukis, Triumphs, Yamahas, and even Legend Cars. We have also done a number of turbo- and super-charged bikes.
Injector Service
We offer in-house fuel injector cleaning and matching. If you want your fuel injection setup to work efficiently flow matched injectors are critical. We have seen over 25% flow variation in a new pair of injectors! A set of injectors matched to within 1-2% is a must for any project bike prior to tuning, and can often solve running issues on a stock bike. Send us your injectors for cleaning and matching or buy matching sets from us. We have matched injectors for most late model Ducatis in stock. This is a very cost effective fix that can have an outsized effect on engine performance.
These services are not limited to motorcycle injectors; we have the equipment to run most modern gasoline automotive injectors up to batches of eight at a time.
Cylinder Head Service
The ability to properly repair and modify Ducati cylinder heads is critical for the setup of desmo valve train. We have a Sunnen VGS-20 seat and guide machine that allows us to carefully control repair and performance work. Dealerships usually ship this work out to a cylinder head shop, often a shop that does not understand the finer points of desmo valve operation. A larger valve that is not properly installed can actually detract from the performance of a cylinder head; it can also make valve adjustments difficult, if not impossible.
Our cylinder head services are not limited to Ducatis or even to motorcycles. We can do performance valve jobs and repairs to just about any cylinder head that will fit on the Sunnen VGS-20.
Engine Building Services
We offer full engine building services. From bore kits to full build race motors, we have the equipment and highly trained staff to help you meet your performance goals. Again, these services are not limited to Ducatis or even to motorcycles. We offer boring, crank balancing, rod selection and installation, flywheel lightening, larger valve installation, porting, cam timing and of course, full engine building.
